Salamis, Cyprus     2004-06-19

Salamis is an ancient site on the east coast of Cyprius, 6 km North of Famagusta, and is said to be one of the most important archaeological areas East Mediterranean. There are very extensive ruins which date back to the post-Classical period. These include the ampitheatre and the gymnasion which have been extensively restored. 14:00 GMT 19 June 2004
